Search Marketing
Search Marketing and your website
I like to think of Search Marketing or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as your attempt at having the most prominent store in a high traffic area. Just like the fast food chains always seem to be just there when you feel like a hamburger or shake.
A properly executed internet search campaign will get you in front of people willing and wanting to buy, or at least consider, your product or service.
The idea for your online marketing business, or any business with an online presence, is to gain higher visibility or ranking on a search engine response.
A little cautionary tale
A have a friend who's a gun businessman. He's had a number of highly successful businesses over twenty years. So much so he has semi-retired at 45 and bought into a food business - which is where his passion lies.
Having not dealt much in online Search Marketing he put his food product website marketing in the hands of a web designer.
The result: a beautiful looking site with no traffic and no customers. A out-of-site as I like to call them.
What to do, what to do?
1. Build your online business or presence with the primary objective of gaining traffic - relevant traffic.
2. Search techniques and technology - if you don't know what they are, ask someone who does. Pay them for their service and make them accountable for the results. Search marketers have the experience to get your site noticed, credible and profitable.
3. Advertising 2.0. Online advertising is the oil that propels the internet. You can increase the traffic to your site and business through paid advertising in relevant media, contextual advertising - a more targeted advertising method, and paid inclusion - gaining a presence on the search engine's search index.
4. Marketing researches. A little time and research into Search Marketing will yeild results for your business. Spend the time and, hopefully, they'll be money to spend as a result.
