Internet Marketing
Marketing is dead. Long live marketing. Or to be more precise - long live Internet Marketing. It's through the online world where marketing is growing in size and importance.
The Internet Commercial Model.
No matter how hard internet marketers try new ways to monetise their online businesses it is advertising that brings in the dollars. Just ask the guys from Google.
Be your own marketer.
No, you don't have to grow a ponytail and goatee beard to be in marketing. Today non-marketers, and online business-people have far more access to marketing and advertising information to help write their own strategies and ads. Plus, with all the terrific marketing and advertising analysis tools (mostly free) available any internet marketer can judge the performance of their ads daily or even minute by minute.
Most exciting to me is search advertising. You can write two to three ads and test which ones are working best. Then it's a simple matter of continually testing and refining. This may sound dull but when you notice sales spike with a new ad the hours just drift blissfully by.
The top ten old but relevant rules of Internet Marketing.
Some of the marketing and advertising techniques developed over the last century and beyond are just as relevant in today's world of the internet marketing company.
1. Be targeted. Really think hard about who exactly buys your product or service or who potentially should buy. Don't fall into the trap of just thinking "well, everyone should buy my product, it's great". Be specific, think about how they purchase and why.
2. Think benefits not features. People don't buy drills they buy holes. The benefit of a drill is that I can now make all the holes I want.
3. Get emotional. And once you've wiped away the tears, try writing from the heart. People respond far more to emotional words than hard, rational words. Think of your headline as painting a word picture for your audience.
4. Build a brand. Sounds daunting but anyone can build themselves a brand. A brand is just a short-hand way to help people make a decision to buy (or not). Be consistent with colors and style of your internet marketing business communication. Develop your very own way of speaking, maybe more conversational and light-hearted.
Sincerely,
