Email Marketing


Sometimes in marketing we can be seduced by the shiny new technology and ideas. Email Marketing has suffered from this over the last few years, especially with the rise and rise of social media and search engine optimisation.

It just doesn't sound that new or interesting. Emails are just so ubiquitous that they are a forgotten internet marketing technique. Nevermind, email is the number one reason people the world over use the internet.

However the tide has turned of late. E-mail Marketing is back on marketers radar. It may have something to do with the economic downturn forcing managers to resist the new, untried techniques and go back to the tried and true marketing methods.

I'd like to think it is because email is just such an effective medium for marketing messages. Here's a few reasons why you should consider it for your internet marketing business.

1. Database capturing. (I grab people's email addresses and permission to send them messages at every opportunity).
2. Permission marketing. The old days of 'interruption marketing, like uninvited ads during your favorite TV show, are numbered. Asking via Email Marketing and having people's approval to send them information on your product or service is marketing gold.
3. Cheap, cheap. I struggle to think of a cheaper advertising medium. It has many of the features of direct mail but with almost none of the costs and fuss.
4. Green machine. Just think how much direct mail, flyers, brochures and posters chew up valuable resources. Now think how little Email Marketing requires.
5. Easy does it. There really is nothing to stop any business setting up an effective internet marketing advertising campaign using email. There's plenty of cheap or even free software. Just search and you'll find one to suit you in no time.


So, what's stopping you Email Marketing? It can't be the cost.
